Cassie and Colby's wedding on July 13th, 2019, was an unforgettable celebration of love, elegance, and intricate details. After a romantic Parisian engagement, the couple had just 7.5 months to plan their Chicago wedding, and they enlisted the Wedicity team to ensure their day went off without a hitch. In collaboration with an incredible vendor team, we meticulously crafted an event that was as romantic as it was visually stunning, blending historic architecture with modern touches for a timeless feel.
Personalized Details and Unique Touches
From the very beginning, Cassie wanted her wedding to reflect her and Colby’s personalities and their story. She kicked off the wedding day with a thoughtful, personalized touch for her bridal party. The bridesmaids wore custom Le Rose pajama sets and each received a monogrammed toiletry bag. These small, personalized details were a reflection of Cassie’s thoughtfulness and love for her friends and family.
The bride herself wore a stunning Milla Nova gown from Viero Bridal Chicago, paired with Badgley Mischka shoes and exquisite jewelry from Devon Fine Jewelry and Cartier. To complete the luxurious feel, there were personalized favors, hand-illustrated Tiffany-dome-inspired invitations, and a chic photo booth backdrop, ensuring that no detail was overlooked.
The Grand Ceremony Under the Tiffany Dome
Cassie and Colby chose the iconic Chicago Cultural Center as their venue, a location that perfectly suited their love for architecture and history. Known for housing the world’s largest Tiffany dome, the Cultural Center provided a breathtaking backdrop for their ceremony. Guests entered the grand building and were greeted with personalized water service, a welcome refreshment on a warm July day.
The entrance staircase was lined with lush floral and candle garlands, creating a dramatic and romantic atmosphere that set the tone for the ceremony. A blush velvet aisle runner led to an all-white ceremony stage surrounded by cascading greenery and elevated florals. Gold chivari chairs lined the aisles, and custom programs designed by Hanan Paikin were set on each seat, adding a refined, polished touch.
At the altar, a 12-foot high archway adorned with flowers framed the couple as they exchanged vows. This carefully curated floral installation by Flowers for Dreams, in shades of blush pink and green, added an ethereal elegance to the space. Cassie and Colby chose to include a unity candle ceremony, symbolizing the joining of their families, with their mothers lighting a gold-monogrammed unity candle—a beautiful, sentimental moment that added depth to their vows.
A Jazzy Cocktail Hour
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a sophisticated cocktail hour in the Rotunda, serenaded by a jazzy trio. The live music created a relaxed yet classy ambiance, allowing guests to mingle, sip on cocktails, and take in the beauty of the Cultural Center. Cassie and Colby wanted their wedding to be more than just an event—they wanted it to be an experience. With each carefully planned moment, from the welcoming drinks to the live jazz, they achieved just that.
Dinner and Dancing in Preston Bradley Hall
Following the cocktail hour, guests were invited to rejoin the couple in Preston Bradley Hall, where they were welcomed by an elegant and visually captivating scene. Large-scale mirrored calligraphy seating charts by Maison Blanche Lettering, adorned with florals and greenery, guided guests to their tables. The table assignments added a touch of personalization and luxury that was in perfect harmony with the venue's historic charm.
In the center of the room stood a stunning 4-tiered wedding cake by Alliance Bakery, decorated with a cascade of sugar flowers and a custom C+C monogram. The all-white design of the cake matched the color scheme of the reception, accented with blush pink roses and greenery, making it both a delicious treat and a show-stopping visual element.
A Beautifully Designed Reception Space
The reception decor was nothing short of magical. The 32-foot head table stretched across the dance floor, adorned with elevated candles, lush greenery, and blush floral arrangements. BBJ Linen provided elegant gold-rimmed chargers and blush napkins, which paired beautifully with custom-printed dinner menus, creating a cohesive and sophisticated tablescape.
The sparkling white dance floor, provided by Elegant Event Lighting, was flanked by two 20-seat round tables made of gold and glass, courtesy of Ellie & Rose. These show-stopper tables featured gold elevated floral arrangements and an assortment of candles, adding layers of depth and ambiance to the room. Sage greenery added a natural touch, balancing the luxe decor with organic elements for a warm, inviting feel.
A Night of Celebration and Joy
The evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt moments. Cassie shared an emotional father-daughter dance on the all-white dance floor, a memory she and her father will cherish forever. Throughout the evening, the room was alive with music from TVK Orchestra, who kept the energy high and the dance floor packed. To entertain guests further, a custom hedge photo booth backdrop by I Love Photobooth offered a fun and interactive way to capture memories from the night.
As the night wore on, guests were treated to late-night snacks of Garrett Popcorn and Big Fat Cookies, a nod to the couple’s love for Chicago's iconic treats. It was the perfect way to keep energy levels high and guests happy as they danced late into the night.
